After the birth of her son, owner Mai wanted to transition to a career that was as fulfilling as it was flexible. She developed Style Patch-Up to offer beauty treatments with style. Inspired and influenced by her fashion and styling background, she injects her services with her signature creative flair.

Civil Rights Baes
The creation of this platform was inspired by the protests that arose following the murder of George Floyd in 2020. As Americans living in England, my co-producer and I knew we needed to do more than posit on Twitter and post a black square on Instagram.
We began advocating for diversity and anti-racism through a weekly Instagram TV show titled Beyond the Blackout. We noticed that many people were motivated to act, but didn’t know where to begin or what to do.
To bridge this gap between inspiration and action, we selected guests across industries who are actively working to dismantle supremacist systems and uplift Black communities. We realized that if people could see the work happening, they could model it in their personal and professional spheres.

Reading with Ruby
I developed Reading with Ruby with my daughter to promote education, enrichment, and enjoyment through storytelling. RWR is a series of read-aloud videos sharing our favorite children’s books.
I believe strongly in the power of reading aloud to children; the best children’s books present an incredible opportunity for both kids and adults to learn, imagine, explore, and wonder.
I began this endeavor to capture the always-entertaining reading sessions with Ruby, encourage caregivers to read aloud to children, foster a passion for books, inspire a love of reading, excite the storyteller in us all, share great titles, and promote literacy for children and adults alike.
